We love transforming homes. The older and uglier the better. What makes us different from most firms that we do both the design and the construction. We are design led, so we start with the floor plans and elevations and integrate design principles into our builds, even before a single tile is picked out. Our team manages the layouts, elevations, permit submission, material selections, construction, furniture selections and project management.
We serve the surrounding greater Toronto Area and focus on residential major renovations and new construction, all with full interior design services.
Meet Lindsay Thornton
Lindsay Thornton is the founder and Creative Director for Cornerstone Design & Build.
Her love of design has been a natural evolution throughout her career. She studied commerce at Queen’s University and went on to focus on marketing, branding and business management. After working managing major brands at several Fortune 500 companies, she found her true passion when combining her love of business and design. Her first design firm opened in 2018 and focused on residential interior design. Building upon that foundation, she launched Cornerstone Design and Build, based in Toronto, Ontario, which is known for providing complete bespoke residential design and construction services. Her favourite types of homes to work on are older character homes that need a complete overhaul. She lives north of Toronto with her husband and three children and when not lost in design concepts or construction drawings, she can be found reading, planning her next travel adventure or spending time with her family outside.
What is a Design Build Firm?
We are a luxury design and build firm, in Oakville, ON, which means that we are a fully integrated team of interior designers and trades who work together to produce high quality homes for our clients. We start with design, we don't add it in later. We have a huge issue with poor craftsmanship in the industry and wasted client money on poor communication between designer/builder. Our integrated approach reduces re-work and adds ease into what is notoriously a stressful undertaking.
